Winter Wonderland Daytrip
If you're in Los Angeles and CRAVING some snow, but not quite ready to commit to a long drive, I know of the perfect place. Alex, Allie, Ashley and I originally intended on spending the weekend up in Yosemite in a cabin, but sadly there was a record-breaking storm alert for that weekend, causing some major flooding. Of course, we were bummed by it, but the craving for some snow was too strong to give it up. We thought of different options, but a lot of areas just had rain. Luckily, Alex knew of this place just an hour and a half drive away from mid-Los Angeles, called Mount Frazier, or Mount Pinos. We packed up my car and headed over with our best clothing to keep us warm. When we arrived, we scoped out various spots and everything from the driveway up to the deep, snow-filled forest areas were absolutely magical. Ashley snapped some amazing photos of us all just walking around and exploring. Although I wasn't quite used to the level of cold in the snow, I couldn't help but forget about the physical reactions of my body in exchange for the magic my eyes were experiencing. My heart was happy and joyful as I felt like a kid again digging my hands through the cold snow. It was definitely worth the few hours of playtime and I will be visiting again.
