My First Keratin Hair Treatment Experience
Time to talk HAIR. I know that a lot of women struggle to love their hair as it is. I feel like most of my experience has been that women with thick hair wish they had thinner hair and women with thinner hair wish they had thick hair, or curly versus straight, etc.
My relationship with my hair hasn't always been the best. I'm half Filipino, half White and I definitely got the Filipino hair. Thick, coarse, wavy and fluffy. Honestly, I've experimented with it A LOT in the past year to find a style that I feel most comfortable in it. I went from hair really long that reached my hips, to short hair above the shoulders, to trying out bangs. I've always wished I could have the type of hair that I can just wake up in the morning, brush it and be on with my day.
I've been getting my hair done for the past two years at my favorite salon in Los Angeles, Spoke and Weal. Ever since getting my first haircut with Lindsey, I didn't want to go to anyone else! So, she's always been my go-to. I've also had Emily do my color in the past and I've also had a lovely experience with her. So, for this trip to Spoke and Weal, I reached out and was curious about trying the Keratin Hair Treatment. It's basically like a brazilian blowout without all of the damaging chemicals that other salons typically use. So it's aldehyde and formaldehyde free.
The process was so simple and really didn't take too much time. First, they shampoo'd my hair, put in the product, let it set for approximately 30 minutes, rinsed and shampoo'd again, blow dried and then straightened. Lindsey told me that I had to wait 48 hours before washing or getting my hair wet and I also couldn't really put my hair up or in pins or anything like that. As soon as I was done, I knew it was a treatment I would easily get hooked on. My hair felt so different! It was smooth, shiny and frizz-free like never before. Bottom line: I would highly recommend this for women that feel like they need some tame in their hair. Stay tuned on Instagram and I'll let you know how it transforms my hair even after showering and over the span of the next couple of weeks. Feel free to ask any questions!
