Finding My Backcountry

Finding My Backcountry

Last week I flew to Marin, California to spend some time outdoors with the Backcountry and Shopstyle team. When I arrived at the Airbnb, I was blown away by the antique character of the home, which overlooked the ocean. I met a few of the other bloggers/influencers that I was excited to explore with. I was able to pick out some pieces from Backcountry, although I’ve been ordering my outdoor gear from Backcountry for the last year, so I just picked up some new pieces (Beyond Yoga Leggings, Patagonia Tank Top and Asolo Hiking Boots) that would be helpful for the activities we had planned.

The day started with paddleboarding, which I’ve done a few times in the past and have loved it. It was so nice to get out on the water, all of us with varying experiences. I found myself feeling very eager, so of course I was the first one out and the first one back. It was too fun! We then stopped at a lovely restaurant called Saltwater where we had what was probably one of the best meals I have had in a long time (no exaggeration). Unlimited oysters, shishito peppers, fresh salad, you name it.

In the afternoon we hiked around Point Reyes, which started in the mountains and ended on a beach. The best part was our hiking guide who was very familiar with all of the plants and flowers along the path, pointing them out and teaching us to literally stop and smell the flowers. Something tugged at me when she explained that our connection with nature could not be more intimate- that what we exhale, the trees inhale and what the trees exhale, we inhale. It was such an important reminder that nature keeps us alive and so we should help keep it alive as well.

The day ended with dinner back at the Airbnb and it was so beautiful and delicious. I felt pretty luck to have witnessed the sunset that was happening with sherbert colors. Overall, the trip was amazing and I had so much fun using all my new backcountry gear and putting it to the test with some outdoor adventuring. It was so refreshing to pause and practice mindfulness in the outdoors. If you’re looking into getting some new outdoor gear, definitely look into Shopstyle, which includes Backcountry products. You can use the code AERIAL15 for 15% off your first order. Happy adventuring!
